LEGAL DISCLAIMER: Due to FDA regulations and recent attention from the North Carolina Department Of Agriculture and Consumer Services (Food and Drug Protection Division) The Art of Undoing is no longer allowed to claim that CBD has any medicinal or health related benefits.
The FDA are not claiming that CBD doesn’t have these benefits, they are saying that such claims can only be made in regards to a drug that has been tested and verified through scientific study. Since CBD, as an isolated compound, has now been FDA approved in the form of Epidiolex, any other product claiming the same benefits from Cannabidiol would therefore be claiming to be a drug.
Further to this any claims whatsoever that CBD products can prevent, mitigate, diagnose, treat or cure serious disease indicate that the product is intended for use as a drug and as such are illegal. Any food item that contains CBD is also illegal because of the ‘drug’ connection and because they are concerned that children may consume such items unknowingly.
Contrary to widespread belief that the FDA and NC state are trying to limit CBD supply only to the big pharmaceutical companies it seems that they are looking out for the consumer and attempting to protect them from products that make unproven claims. In the long run this looks to benefit the consumer since many of the companies selling CBD products are making grand claims about disease prevention and cure, sell products with ineffective amounts of CBD with unsubstantiated hype. The Art of Undoing will no longer be selling CBD items but we can highly recommend Satya CBD as a company with high integrity and quality CBD products that we found to be very effective.
This webpage will be edited further to align with FDA and NC state law in the coming weeks.
CBD is one of over 60 medicinal compounds found in the cannabis plant. Cannabis is usually known for it’s psychedelic effects due to the cannabinoid THC. By selecting strains of the cannabis plant that are very low in THC (less than 0.3% by law) it is possible to provide a high CBD product with immense health benefits that does not get you high or impair your performance or judgement. Many studies have been done on CBD and it’s health benefits are well documented.
What Are The Main Properties of CBD?
CBD is thought to have the following properties:
- Anti-inflammatory – helps reduce inflammation and swelling, good for symptoms of arthritis, Chrone’s Disease and IBS, neuro inflammation and traumatic brain injury.
- Anti-seizure – helps reduce the seizures associated with Epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease and Dravet Syndrome.
- Anti-spasmodic – helps reduce spams associated with Multiple Sclerosis, menstruation and spinal injury.
- Antioxidant – good for reducing the effects of free radicals throughout the body, helping to slow down the ageing process and helps protect against cognitive degeneration from oxidative stress.
- Antiemetic – reduces nausea and vomiting, particularly useful with chemotherapy patients.
- Anxiolytic – reduces anxiety and as a result can help alleviate symptoms of depression, insomnia, panic attacks, social anxiety disorder and PTSD.
- Antipsychotic – CBD has shown promise as a treatment for psychosis and Schizophrenia and, ironically, is effective at reducing the paranoia and negative effects associated with some use of THC.
- Anti-tumour – CBD has been shown to interfere with the cell reproduction of tumours.
- Increases bone density and helps with healing of fractures and Osteoporosis.
Cannabidiol has been shown to help with many more disorders, a comprehensive list can be found on our blog. Research is ongoing and new benefits are being found all the time.
What Does Satya Mean?
Satya is a Sanskrit word meaning Divine Truthfulness. It is one of the 5 yamas, moral observances, of the Yoga Sutras Of Patanjali, and refers to the spiritual practice of living life in alignment with the highest truth we know, the creative force of Life itself. The force that is generated by this relationship is known as Satyagraha, the inspiration for Mahatma Gandhi’s movement of passive political resistance.
Satya CBD was born as a response to the outrageous pricing and general misinformation associated with many of the existing CBD products on the market. In order to get the CBD required at an affordable price I had to buy in bulk and began to share the savings with friends and family. Soon the word got out and demand increased and so I decided to start Satya CBD to provide people with a product they need at a price they deserve. In line with the principles of Patanjali’s definition of Truthfulness Satya CBD offers a CBD product that is honest, effective, pure and affordable.
What makes Satya CBD different?
At Satya CBD we use a locally sourced ethanol extracted CBD from organically grown commercial hemp that is triple carbon scrubbed for superior cleanliness whilst preserving a good terpene content and other medicinal compounds. Every batch comes with it’s own lab analysis.
Liquid sunflower lecithin is added to assist the oils being absorbed into the water-based blood stream further increasing the bioavailability of CBD and allowing it to pass through the blood brain barrier more easily, the correct dose of a good CBD product will often produce a noticeable change within 10-15 seconds. Liquid sunflower lecithin also helps protect CBD from being destroyed by stomach acid.
MCT/LCT Carrier Oil
The extract is dissolved in MCT oil (Medium Chain Triglyceride oil from coconut) and olive oil which contains LCTs (Long Chain Triglycerides). MCT oil is commonly thought to be the best vehicle for CBD and is the most frequently used because it is a pure fuel that is utilised by the body immediately with minimal need for processing by the liver. However the truth is that LCTs form larger mixed micelles that can easier solubize and utilise the CBD facilitating increased assimilation into the blood and greater overall bioavailability. By using a blend of MCTs and LCTs in Satya CBD we get the double benefit of efficient and quick delivery of CBD to the endocannabinoid system.
Satya CBD is homogenised with a rotor stator operating at 23ooo rpm to create high shear forces that reduce the CBD particles significantly through a process called cavitation. This not only aids the bioavailability of the CBD by making many smaller particles with a far greater total surface area but also ensures the final product is mixed evenly throughout and is stable. This is crucial to ensure that every drop and every bottle contain the same amount of actual CBD per serving. Even when a bottle of CBD oil is shaken well the levels of actual CBD vary greatly between samples obtained from that same bottle. Tests have also shown that many products on the market have very inconsistent and often far below advertised cannabinoid levels, possibly due to uneven distribution of Cannabinoids. Homogenisation helps considerably in avoiding all these issues.
How To Take Cannabidiol
For oral administration it is recommended that the oil be swished around the gums and teeth and held under the tongue for at least 60 seconds, preferably more, before swallowing. This provides around 40-50% absorption whereas swallowing immediately gives less than approximately 6% absorption. It can also be used topically for aching joints and skin conditions although transdermal absorption into the blood stream is not as effective as oral administration or inhalation.
Our product is priced as low as possible so that those who need it can afford it. Many sellers online will confuse the consumer with pop science articles and advertising gimmicks to explain why theirs is the best CBD available and worth the high price. Satya CBD provides 500mg of full spectrum CBD extract in 30ml of MCT/LCT oil in a blue glass dropper bottle. One squirt is roughly 13mg and there are roughly 45 servings per bottle. This is just a guide, you can experiment and adjust the dosage to suit your needs.
How Is CBD Extracted From The Plant?
There are several different ways to extract CBD from the plant and each method gives a slightly different end product. The Entourage Effect is the belief that each of the other 483 known compounds adds to the overall effect of the extract and increases the power of the CBD rather than just using isolated CBD alone. This is similar to how whole herbs are more powerful and effective than a single extracted compound from the plant. Each extraction process has it’s pros and cons.
Carbon dioxide (Co2) extraction – very expensive and requires special equipment but gives a good clean product, free of chlorophyll, strips out more terpenes unless both critical and sub-critical C02 extractions are combined.
Ethanol extraction – preserves more of the terpenes (other medicinal compounds) and can give a cleaner product but destroys the waxes.
Butane extraction – very dangerous if not done correctly, possibility of toxins remaining in the extract unless done by someone very skilled, good for vapable extracts and inhalation.
Oil extraction – the flowers and leaves are dried and powdered and heated gently in oil to absorb all the compounds of the dried plant, gives the most full spectrum extract and is easy for anyone to do but potency is much lower and many compounds may be extracted that aren’t wanted.
